Portsmouth notches back-to-back wins

The Portsmouth volleyball team (10-3) came up with a pair of four-game wins this week, defeating both Valley and Chesapeake.

On Monday, the Trojans defeated Valley 25-10, 25-17, 17-25, 25-21. Portsmouth was served to victory by Aiden Fields and Allison Douthat, both of which came up with 14 points. Fields recorded a team-high seven aces, while Douthat came up with six of her own.

Anne Marie Raies led the way offensively with 11 kills, while Baleigh Bradley came up big defensively with 15 digs.

Portsmouth then returned to conference play on Tuesday, when they topped Chesapeake 25-19, 22-25, 27-25, 25-23. Douthat again had a big game behind the line with 14 points and added 26 assists. For the second night in a row, Bradley proved to be Portsmouth’s defensive leader with 17 digs, while Fields came up with a team-high 13 kills.

The Trojans take the court again on Thursday, when they host Ironton at Portsmouth High School. They then host Chesapeake in a rematch on Monday evening.
