The Portsmouth volleyball team survived a marathon match with Ironton on Tuesday evening to extend its OVC winning streak to 14 matches. The Trojans defeated the Fighting Tigers 25-11, 25-14, 20-25, 25-27, 15-11.

Portsmouth (4-0, 2-0 OVC) jumped out to a quick start, easily taking the first two sets. Despite falling in game three, the Trojans still had an excellent opportunity to win the match in game four, but the Fighting Tigers rallied in extra points to win 27-25. Luckily, the Trojans were able to rebound in the fifth and decisive set to earn the victory.

Portsmouth was led by Aiden Fields, who led the Trojans with a team-high 15 kills. Anne Marie Raies finished just behind her with 12 kills. Lyda Spencer and Bailey Horsley both had strong nights in the service game, recording 16 points apiece.

On defense, the Trojans were led by Baleigh Bradley, who came up with 27 digs. Setter Allison Douthat paced the Portsmouth offense with 33 assists.

Portsmouth’s next chance to extend its OVC winning match comes on Thursday when they host Fairland.
