Staff Report

Judy Bayes and Donna Reiser were crowned champions of the Portsmouth Women’s Tennis League earlier this year.

The two claimed their champions on the final day of play on July 29. Bayes earned the title in Divsion I and was followed up by Christy Wilcox in second place. Raiser, the Division II winner, was followed by second-place finisher Ruth Singer.

This season marked the 55th anniversary of the league, which was formed in 1960. The group plays at Shawnee State on Wednesday mornings in the summer.

In addition to playing their final matches of the summer on July 29, a picnic luncheon was also held at the home of Ann Oberling, while officers for the 2016 season were also held.
