PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – The Shawnee State athletic department has announced a partnership with Stretch Internet to provide live streaming and statistics at select Shawnee State athletic events.

“This is an exciting announcement for Shawnee State athletics,” SSU Athletic Director Jeff Hamilton said. “Stretch not only provides us with the opportunity to allow our fans to watch our teams from home, but also allows us to extend the Shawnee State brand across the country.”

With Stretch now in place, the current plan is to provide audio broadcasts only for men’s and women’s soccer as well as for baseball and softball and video only for volleyball during every home game for the 2015-16 athletic season and beyond. For men’s and women’s basketball, both audio and video will be included from the current year forward.

Stretch Internet, based in Mesa, AZ, was founded in 2003 by a former college athletics media relations professional who saw a need to provide affordable, high-quality streaming to college and university athletic departments. Since its formation more than 10 years ago, Stretch has expanded to provide services for more than 500 colleges and universities, high schools, professional sports organizations and non-sports entities. A devotion to utilizing the best streaming technology possible and providing a first-class presentation – backed by the best customer support in the business – have helped Stretch Internet become one of the largest and most respected streaming media specialists in the industry.

When tuning into a game from the above sports on Stretch, viewers of the Shawnee State portal will find a composite schedule of all of the upcoming events that will be broadcasted on audio and/or radio throughout the athletic year. Additionally, viewers will also find an interface that includes live stats, the Twitter posts and updates that the Shawnee State Athletic Department will be posting throughout the year and various viewing options for the aforementioned fans to enjoy.

The first broadcasts of the partnership were aired over the past weekend as Shawnee State officially kicked off its agreement with Stretch with a 1 p.m. men’s soccer match against Saint Francis (Ind.) on Saturday, August 29 and was followed by another 1 p.m. men’s soccer tilt against Saint Xavier (Ill.) on Sunday, August 30. The next broadcast under Stretch will come on Tuesday, September 1 as men’s soccer will play its third game in four days with a matchup looming against Asbury at 4 p.m. on the Shawnee Turf.
