The Shawnee State women’s soccer program was selected to finish sixth in the Mid-South Conference preseason coaches’ poll on Tuesday morning.

Shawnee State’s position in the poll is one spot below last year’s fifth place finish for the Bears. SSU went 6-7-2 last year, with a 3-4 record in the conference. Shawnee State started the year 0-4-2 but won six of their last nine games.

Lindsey Wilson was selected to finish first in the conference again after the Blue Raiders won the league last season. The league favorites got seven of eight first place votes, with Cumberland (Tenn.) receiving the other and finishing second in the poll.

Shawnee State will kick the 2017 season off on August 29 when they host Union College in the first ever night game at Shawnee Turf. Kickoff is set for 6:00pm.
