Looking to improve off their OVC season sweep from a season ago, the Portsmouth volleyball team got off on the right foot on Monday, defeating Valley in three games, 25-20, 25-13, 25-22.

The Trojans were led by Lyda Spencer, who led Portsmouth offensively with nine kills and seven points, four of which were aces. She also led the Trojan defense with six digs on the evening.

Portsmouth got a big game from behind the line from Bailey Horsley, who led the team with 13 points and nine aces. Junior Andi Queen finished the match with seven points and three aces.

The Trojans begin their quest for a second-straight OVC title on Tuesday, when they travel to Coal Grove. Valley takes the court again on Wednesday, when they host Peebles in Lucasville.
