The Notre Dame Titans topped the New Boston Glenwood Tigers 59 – 42 in division 4 sectional semi-finals Wednesday at North West High School.

“I expected a good game,” said Notre Dame Coach Garrick Anderson, “I expected a battle, everyone starts out zero to zero.”

“They’ve (Titans) have a really nice team, they play well together,” stated Tigers Coach Scott Jenkins. “The Turner kid is one of the better players in the area. They obviously work hard on their defense in order to exploit your weakness, and they did a nice job of doing that.”

Senior Trevon Turner led the Titans with 21 points, while Sophomore Ben Mader had nine, and both Senior Grant Sparks and Senior Isiah Johnson contributed eight to the win.

“Trevon Turner stepped up and shot the ball well tonight, and sophomore Ben Madder actually played a heck of a game,” said Anderson. “He’s starting to get his touch a little bit on the perimeter and he can really shoot.”

“I think Mader stepping out and hitting those big threes for them early in the game really catapulted them along,” held Jenkins. “Tonight, they were able to hit some big threes at key times that really put some distance between us.”

Junior Kade Conley added 20 points, and sophomore Tyler Caldwell had nine points in the loss for New Boston.

“I think Kade Conley played a heck of a game,” said Coach Jenkins. “I think the things I ask out of Kade, to handle the ball, to get in and rebound, to be the floor general, Kade has been there with me all year and has done an outstanding job. I know again tonight he led us in scoring probably led us close in rebounding, and Kade played his normal game.”

Moving forward the Notre Dame Tigers play Eastern Pike on March first.

“We’ve already played them twice,” said Coach Anderson “and both games have been a tight match. I expect the same type of game. We just have to cut down on our mental mistakes and play good defense.”
