The Notre Dame Lady Titans finished the regular season with a 21-1 record, the second time in school history the Titans have achieved that feat.

With another winning campaign in the review mirror, Notre Dame landed a No. 1 seed in the Jackson 1 Division IV District Bracket and will faced No. 9 Whiteoak Thursday night.

With the Titans still searching for their first district championship in school history, the expectations are high this season for this Notre Dame team.

“I believe our team is focused on the task at hand,” Titans head coach JD McKenzie said. “We are excited to get a high seed and have the opportunity to play for a sectional title. We are approaching the tourney in the belief that we could make a deep run and preparing in our practices that way. We are still striving to improve everyday and the girls are as focused as ever.

“We aren’t looking past the next game that we play but we do have high expectations to play for as long as we can. We have a lot of experienced girls that have tournament experience and we are definitely going to lean on them this time of year.”

Whiteoak reached the sectional final game after defeating the eighth-seeded East Tartans 35-29 Monday night. McKenzie knows his team will have to be ready to go after having a first-round bye.

“We are expecting a hungry team in Whiteoak that had a big win versus East,” McKenzie said. “We know they will come out confident, we hope to play with a lot of energy and confidence and execute our game plan.”

At press time, the result of the Notre Dame-Whiteoak contest was unknown.
