The Ohio High School Athletic Association has released the 2017 State/Regional Tournament Brackets for both boys and girls basketball teams. Local teams will play in Division III and Division IV competitions.
In Division III boys basketball, Coal Grove will face Nelsonville-York at 6:15 on Feb. 20 at Jackson High School. The winner of the competition will play Fairland at 6 p.m. Feb. 24 at Jackson.
The Piketon Redstreaks will compete against the Portsmouth West Senators at 6:45 p.m. on Feb. 20 at Waverly. Following their game, Eastern and Northwest will play, with the game starting at 8:30. The winners from these two games will play at 8:30 Feb. 24 at Waverly.
Keeping the Waverly court hot, the Portsmouth Trojans will play Valley on Feb. 21 at 6:15. The victor of the two will play the winner a matchup between North Adams and West Union at 6 p.m. on Feb. 25 at Waverly.
Heading to Jackson, the Wheelersburg Pirates will meet Rock Hill at 6:15 p.m. on Feb. 22. Whichever team comes out on top will go up against either South Point or Wellston at 8:30 p.m. Feb. 25 at Jackson.
In Division IV boys basketball, Eastern and Green will hit the court at 7 p.m. on Feb. 21 at Meigs. The winner will face Waterford at 6:15 on Feb. 28.
On Feb. 22, Notre Dame will play New Boston at 6:15 at Northwest with the winner returning to Northwest to play Eastern at 6:15 p.m. March 1.
Entering competitions in the second round, East will hit the court against Fairland at 8 p.m. at Northwest with the winner going on to meet Waterford at 6:15 p.m. on March 7 at Ohio University.
