The Notre Dame Titans girls basketball team stole the court Saturday against the Portsmouth Trojans, winning the game 56-35.
“We did a good job defensively in the first 3 quarters limiting PHS to some tough shots and not allowing 2nd chance points. We were able to get out in transition and get some good looks at the basket,” said Notre Dame Head Coach JD McKenzie.
Several players made some major contributions. Lexi Smith led the Titans with 17 points. She also added eight rebounds and three blocks. Hagen Schaefer came in close behind with 16 points as well as four assists and three steals. Though only scoring eight points, Katie Dettwiller came to the basket strong with 13 rebounds and five blocks.
“Katie, Lexi and Catelynn did a good job protecting the paint and cleaning the glass,” McKenzie commented. “Once again we were able to get the young kids some valuable minutes.”
The Titans are currently 16-1 overall and 11-0 in the conference. They will play again Monday night at West against the Senators.
