The Northwest girls basketball team picked up a their first win in a neutral non-conference match against Whiteoak Monday night, beating them 61-41.
Shae Patty led the Mohawks with 17 points, seven rebounds and seven assists. Hannah Breech followed closely behind with 16 points, four rebounds and four steals. Also scoring in the double digits was Abby Baer with 10 points. Baer also had 10 rebounds.
Northwest Athletic Director and Girls Basketball Coach Dave Frantz explained that the win came from the trimphs of several players, adding, “Miranda Lewis had 8 points and pulled down a team leading 13 boards. Gracie Swavel also 8 points and 8 rebounds. Megan McClurg played stellar defense and contributed greatly in the win.”
This victory may give the girls the confidence to pick up some additional wins as they finish out the season.
“This was a total team effort and the girls played very unselfish tonight. They have been working really hard and their attitudes are second to none. I am really proud of the girls!” Frantz commented.
Northwest will face off against the Clay Panthers on the road Monday night to see if they can bring back another victory.
