Tigers pounce Mohawks

The Waverly Lady Tigers brought the momentum Thursday night as they beat the Northwest Mohawks 50-26.

“This wasn’t our best performance by any means,” stated Waverly Head Coach John Bonifield. “I give Coach Franz and Northwest a lot credit for that. They played hard and made things difficult for us.”

Leading the game was Laken Smith with 30 points with 11-two point field goals and eight of 12 successful free throws. “Thank goodness we have Laken Smith on our team. She carried us tonight, and we needed everything she gave us,” Bonifield commented.

The Tigers will meet the Clay Panthers Thursday night at Clay. The Northwest Mohawks will play at home on Monday as they face off against Whiteoak.
