Sayer, Lamont named to 2016 Academic All-Ohio Team


SSU seniors honored by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association

Martyn Sayer and Joe Lamont were named to the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association’s 2016 Academic All-Ohio first team for NCAA Division II, NAIA, and NCCAA schools.

Joe Lamont, a defender from Edinburgh, Scotland, was named to the first team for having a 3.67 GPA. Lamont is majoring in Business Administration and will graduate in the spring of 2017. Martyn Sayer, a senior midfielder from Liverpookl, England, earned a 3.55 GPA in his Business Administration major and will also graduate in 2017.

The awards from the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association are not the first academic awards earned by Lamont and Sayer for this past season. Both were named Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes for this season. Sayer and Lamont were also two of 10 SSU players named Mid-South Conference All-Academic for this past season.
