Notre Dame hangs on to win

The Notre Dame Titans faced off against a stout Chesapeake Panthers team. The Titans came out victorious in this match-up, winning 48-36. Notre Dame’s offense came out strong, but their defense was even stronger. Chesapeake had ten turnovers which affected them from gaining any momentum on the Titans. Although the Titans had 13 turnovers, they managed to take the lead early and refused to give it up throughout the entire game. A few late shots from Chesapeake sparked a comeback, but ultimately Notre Dame’s defense was too good and closed the Panthers out.

Titans Head Coach Anderson said “I loved our defensive effort tonight. We got down and guarded like we were supposed to. Some things we need to work on that we didn’t do so well at tonight is to just slow down and quit making mental mistakes. I thought we shared the ball offensively but we just have to understand the time and situation of the game better.”

Senior Trevon Turner was the top scorer for Notre Dame with 17 points. Turner also recorded multiple defensive rebounds and take-aways. Aaron Bazler finished second for the Titans in scoring with 10 points.

“I am overall satisfied with how the game went tonight. Defense wins games. That is one of the things we tip our hat off too since I’ve been coaching. Myself and the previous coaching staff really have committed to the defensive end. It was a team effort tonight which was what won us the game.” said Coach Anderson.

Notre Dame went 9-27 in free throws which is a merely 33 percent from the line. Coach Anderson and the Titans will work on their free throw shooting in preparation for their next game against Coal Grove on Tuesday, December 6.
