WHEELERSBURG — It didn’t take long for Post 23 Saturday to match the number of runs they scored in the first two days of the 2013 Gene Bennett Classic combined.
Not only did Post 23 score two runs in its first at-bats of the day, the club went on to score 12 runs on the day to earn a split in the final two scheduled games. Coach Jack Branon knew his team needed to have a huge day offensively.

More and more it seems area fishermen are seeking to find their recreation close by home. The area we live in right here offers a number of places where it can be found.
In Kentucky there are streams like Kinniconick Creek, Tygarts Creek and Little Sandy River, as well as lakes such as Grayson, Greenbo, Yatesville, Cave Run and Paintsville.

I’ve said many times how I believe that our 4 seasons in Southern Ohio are a great reason to live here. I truly love all the seasons, but each year, more and more I hate to think they’re over. I know that as each one arrives one has to leave, but I find that each year I have so many things I planned for the season and the season just doesn’t last long enough.
As the days get longer, and the nights shorte...

Post 23 coach Jack Branon discussed earlier this week how his ball club needs to put pressure on the opposition.
There was progress during the second day of the 2013 Gene Bennett Classic Friday, but not enough to get that elusive first win in this year’s tournament as Post 23 dropped both games for the second time in as many days.
“I thought on the positive side, we competed and that’s what we keep telling...

I am an ultra-competitive guy. I hate losing, whether I am playing a sport or watching my favorite team on satellite. My wife says I act stupid when my team loses. And, truth be told, I probably act worse than stupid. Every time my team loses, it’s seemingly a tragedy.
But then a real tragedy happens in sports and I realize how petty I act over something so minuscule, something that I have no control over, ...
Cody’s Corner: Sports and Father’s Day Cody Leist

With Father’s Day coming this weekend, I initially struggled how to incorporate the holiday with sports.
Then it hit me, how can I ignore the person that I am proud to call my father and recognize him properly for all that he did to get me to where I am today? If there’s one thing I may question him and my mom about, it is my name. Don’t get me wrong, I love my name, I’ve just been accustomed to being called...

WEST PORTSMOUTH — In the fourth year as a participant of the Gene Bennett Classic, Post 23 has claimed two wins.

As the summer weather heats up, so does the golf scene. Most local citizens play for leisure and relaxation, but for one local teenager the competitive nature of the sport really fuels the fire.

“It’s fulfilling to walk off the 18th green as the winner,” McFarland said....
