Members of SOLACE (Surviving Our Loss And Continuing Everyday) recently donated $600 worth of items to the Stepping Stone and Marsh House for back to school.
SOLACE held a spaghetti dinner on Aug. 14 and decided to use the proceeds from the dinner to purchase the items.
“This is our way of doing a little community project. The girls who took charge of the event, Lindsay (Kulp) and Brooke (Smith) are two that’s in recovery and suggested the idea of giving the proceeds back to those in recovery. That’s how all of this came about,” said Jo Anna Krohn, director of SOLACE.
The items were purchased for the Stepping Stone house include little boys’ and girls’ clothing, and a few backpacks for them to start back to school in. Items were also purchased for the Marsh House items, such as socks, underwear, and t-shirts for the residents.
“We were trying to think of a great way to give back to our community and help people out that’s in need of things,” said Lindsay Kulp a SOLACE member and recovering addict who help organize the event. “It feels good to be able to give back and be able to do something to help someone else.”
Brooke Smith a SOLACE member who help organize the event, thought it was important to give to those in need.
“We delivered cloths to treatment facilities to give back to our recovering community Being a recovering drug addict myself it makes me feel good to give back to people that really need things,” said Brooke Smith a SOLACE member and recovering addict who helped organize the event.
