An Eden Park man was arrested Thursday morning after deputies said he tried to run from officers serving warrants at his home.

According to Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini, a detective with the Scioto County Sheriff’s Narcotics Unit, joined by a deputy patrolman in Clay Township, arrested Tommy Lee Adams, 37, of Portsmouth after a foot pursuit on Thursday.

Acting on an anonymous tip, deputies reportedly traveled to Adams’ residence to arrest him for outstanding warrants issued by the Scioto County Common Pleas Court pertaining to violating probation, and failing to appear on a charge of possession of drugs, after receiving an anonymous tip. When deputies arrived, they said Adams fled on foot. After chasing on foot, Adams was captured shortly thereafter and arrested.

In addition to the outstanding arrest warrants, Adams was charged with fifth-degree felony possession of oxycodone, and third-degree felony tampering with evidence. He was taken to the Scioto County Jail, and was scheduled to appear Friday in Portsmouth Municipal Court.

A case against Adams will also be forwarded to the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office to be presented to a grand jury for the consideration of felony criminal charges.

Donini requests that anyone wishing to leave drug information for the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force, please contact the Sheriff’s Office drug hot line at 740-351-1094, the Portsmouth Police Department drug hot line at 740-354-DRUG (3784), or email drugs@sciotocountysheriff.com. All information will be kept confidential and anonymous.
