WHEELERSBURG — Saturday will mark the seventh year for the Salute to God and Country parade, which will convene at 11 a.m. in Wheelersburg, at the Cornerstone Nazarene Church, and will end at the Christian Baptist Campground. Two people will be at the helm of the parade, holding the banner, which bears the words, “Salute to God and Country.” The parade will travel down Gallia Pike Road.
“We want to bring the churches and community together as one, and as many churches as possible to do a float. There will be a prize for the best float,” said Kay Vance, one of the parade coordinators. “We wanted this for the Fourth of July because we believe our country was founded upon Christian principles.”
She said an ambulance service from Ashland will provide concessions. There will be bikers and different branches of the military will also attend.
“We expect a lot of people, but we’re never really sure of how many, until the day of the parade,” said Vance.
