Updating a previous story, four people, including two Scioto County residents, have been arrested and two police officers injured as the result of an incident over the weekend in South Shore, Ky.
Greenup County Sheriff Keith Cooper says that on Friday, at approximately 12:30 p.m. Deputies Cody Fuller and Ricky Craft, assisted by South Shore Police Chief Bill Swords, made a traffic stop on Main Street in South Shore in reference to a drug interdiction investigation.
Following the traffic stop, there was a search of a residence on Fifth Avenue in South Shore, which resulted in the confiscation of 51 grams of heroin, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a large sum of money.
Charles Fletcher, 24, of McDermott, reportedly became physical with deputies and attempted to flee with narcotics. He was apprehended, but after the altercation, Fuller sustained a broken hand, and Swords was injured in the fight as well. Both were treated and released at Our Lady Of Bellfonte Hospital.
In addition to Fletcher, Joshua Glass, 23, of Portsmouth, Ruby Nunley, 31, of South Portsmouth, Kentucky, and Aaron Nicholas Higginbotham, 28, of Circleville, Ohio.
Charges include trafficking in a controlled substance, tampering with physical evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia, assault on a police officer, and resisting arrest. All four were incarcerated in the Greenup County Detention Center.
