Drugs, guns, cash seized in police raid

Drugs, guns and cash were among the items confiscated in a raid on a Portsmouth house over the weekend. Portsmouth Police Chief Robert Ware said on Sunday, at approximately 9 a.m., members of the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force, executed a search warrant at 1305 Mound St., in Portsmouth.

During a search of the residence Detectives found 6.2 grams of cocaine. Detectives also found a loaded Taurus 410 caliber handgun, a loaded 22-caliber handgun, two sets of digital scales and $4,322 in cash.

Manuel Lofton, 33, of 1305 Mound St. is charged with possession of cocaine, a fourth degree felony and two counts of having a weapon under disability, a third degree felony. Esther Mitchell, 63, also of 1305 Mound St. was arrested on a warrant from Scioto County Common Pleas Court for a probation violation.

Additional charges are expected when the case is presented to the Scioto County Grand Jury. It is also expected that additional people will be charged as a result of the investigation.
