Shawnee State University (SSU) is in the process of making final preparations for its annual homecoming celebration that consists of a wide array of activities.

SSU’s annual Athletic Hall of Fame Induction is scheduled to start the week off on Friday, Jan. 18th.

According to released information, those being inducted into the Hall of Fame this year include Adam Davenport, class of 2005, Dan Grummitt, class of 2001, Becky Holden Elkins, class of 2002, Sarah Downing Koehler, class of 2007 and John Koustomer.

In 2012 SSU inducted basketball standout Brandi Munn.

According to released information Munn is a 1999 graduate and excelled on the hardwood from 1995-1999. She completed her career ranking seventh on the Bears’ all-time roster with 1,139 points. She was a three-time all-conference honoree and was also named Second Team NAIA All-Tournament Team as a senior as she helped the Bears capture the 1999 National Championship. She led the team in assists for three years.

The induction ceremony is open to the public, tickets are $20 and reservations must be made in advance. For more information or to purchase tickets visit, 2013ssuhalloffame.eventbrite.com.

Other homecoming activities scheduled include a tent village being setup outside of the athletic center on Saturday, Jan. 19 in anticipation of the Bears’ basketball games.

SSU Wen’s and women’s basketball teams will take on Bluefield College, with the first game will starting at 2 p.m.

According to released information, “the Hall of Fame inductees will be introduced at halftime. Crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen, contests, special recognitions and more will take place throughout the day. Free throws, T-shirt gun, Man vs. Food, Dizzy Bat contest, races and half-court shots are just a few of the activities during the day.”

Other activities include an alumni mixer and a homecoming dance.
