Scioto County resident Donna Cunningham says she is catching her breath after a big year in the recording and performing indusry.

In a year that was topped with her named Female Vocalist of the Year from Great Country Radio in Nashville, she won various independent vocalist awards, had three No. 1 songs on the Main Country Chart, and currently rides the number 34 spot on that chart with the song “Don’t Tell Me That You’re Gone,” ahead of such artists as Jason Aldean and Tim McGraw and where Little Big Town currently holds the top position.

Another song currently riding high on several charts is her duet with Alan Karl, “Your Name Is On My Lips Again.” Cunningham also just received a plaque for her single, “A Satisfied Me,” after it stayed at No. 1 on New York’s Music Review Chart for the months of September and October.

Cunningham has not let the grass grow under her feet when it came to touring in 2012. Over the last week of August and Labor Day weekend, she was in LeMars, Iowa at the National Traditional Country Music Association Festival, where she did three shows and where she also sat in on a couple of shows with duet partner Alan Karl.

“I’ve met so many of my musical idols, traveled to Europe and sang to country fans there,” Cunningham said. “For all of this I feel so grateful to all my business associates. They truly have worked so hard to get my music noticed. But mostly I am grateful to, of course, my family and husband Gary for putting up with all that this business entails.”

Cunningham said last week she was notified that Microsoft has picked up her work and interviewed with Inside Music Row, making it available to numerous outlets wordwide.

Cunningham said she will be in Nashville later this month to finish work on a duet CD with Karl, and at the same time to work on her own solo album. In addition she will also be taping a television show on local Nashville TV with J.K. Coltrain.
