Three more people from the Dayton/Trotwood area have been arrested on drug charges. Troopers from the Chillicothe Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol stopped a car Monday with two Trotwood residents and a Dayton resident inside. This stop follows the arrest of three Dayton residents and one Trotwood resident on Sunday by the Portsmouth Police, who were working with the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force.
According to the OSHP, troopers stopped a vehicle at 7:09 a.m. Monday on U.S. 23 in Pike County for a traffic violation. Troopers said the odor of burnt marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle. Troopers said the driver, Latanya R. Brown, 28, of Trotwood was observed placing a bag of white substance down the front of her pants. Brown was secured and voluntarily removed 30 grams of crack cocaine and 10 grams of heroin from her person, troopers said.
The Piketon Police Department responded to assist, and a probable cause search of the vehicle revealed two digital scales, a razor blade and four grams of marijuana, the OSHP reported. One of the passengers, Demetrus L. Dunson, 33, also of Trotwood was cited and released for possession of drug paraphernalia. Another passenger, Jerrod J.A. Staton, 36, of Dayton was cited and released for possession of marijuana. Brown was arrested and incarcerated for possession and trafficking in drugs while in the presence of a juvenile, because two children, one 8 another 5, were reportedly in the vehicle.
