Coupon books are also available, and contain over $2,400 worth of coupons for our area. Emmanuel’s Seekers Team is selling coupons, or you can also contact Rosie Williams. New for this year is a Baby/Toddler Pageant that will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday morning. If interested, please call Julie Blackburn at 740-961-1874.
Relay For Life is one of the biggest fund raiser for the American Cancer Society. This past year over 258 Scioto County residents were directly helped by the free local programs and services. Some of their programs include the Patient Navigation Center, Man-to-Man, Hope Lodges, Look Good Feel Good, and Gas Cards.
The annual Relay will be Friday, June 22, at the Scioto County Fairgrounds. The Survivor Dinner starts at 6:30 p.m., and each survivor can bring one person with them to the dinner. Free entertainment will be provided by Jacob Tolliver, Josh Stewart, Doc Roc & the Remedies, Rev II Ten; also activities such as Midnight Zumba, Karaoke and Teen Dance at 1 a.m., Minute to Win It Games at 2 a.m., and a movie at 3 a.m. Please bring your own lawn chair.
The Live Auction this year is being called by Auctioneer Don Gleim at 8 p.m., and there will be plenty of foods available at the team tents.
One of our most favorite parts of the Relay is the Luminary Ceremony. Hundreds of people will carrying lit candles, circling the track around the Luminaries, paying respect and honor to those touched by cancer. Relay is an overnight event and goes on until noon Saturday. Participants can arrive at any time and check out the Program Agenda for a list of activities.
