Two Scioto County residents and four people from the Dayton area have been arrested on drug charges.
Bria C. Shelpman, of 1527 High St., Portsmouth; Russell L. Hammonds, of 2075 Candy Run, Lucasville; Dorian D. Shank (also known as D-Money) of Trotwood, Ohio; Domonique White, Deandre Brinson and Jene D. Covington, all three of Dayton, are all charged with trafficking in cocaine and possession of cocaine, both first-degree felonies, and trafficking in heroin and possession of heroin, second-degree felonies. Additionally, Shelpman was wanted on a warrant for failure to appear from Portsmouth Municipal Court, and Shank was wanted on a probation violation warrant from Montgomery County.
Acting Portsmouth Police Chief Robert Ware said members of the Portsmouth Police Department, New Boston Police Department and the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force, searched 1220 ½ Summit St. about 4 a.m. Sunday and arrested the five suspects. The search, Ware said, stemmed from an arrest made by New Boston Police Officers Josh Carver and Sam Craft. During the search, 34 grams of heroin/cocaine mixture was found. Officers also confiscated $1,919 in cash.
Ware said the assistance of the public was instrumental in the search and arrest. He said all information will be kept confidential and anonymous.
