It was announced Thursday that Vice President Joe Biden will appear at Portsmouth High School on Sunday, with doors opening at 9:30 a.m.

The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis and can be obtained at the Obama For America Portsmouth office, 1018 Chillicothe Street Portsmouth, Obama For America Ironton office, 1520 South 11th Street Ironton and the Obama For America Chillicothe office at 149 W. Water Street Chillicothe.

Tickets can be picked up today from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and continuing Friday, September 7 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

According to information from the Obama campaign, participants of the event can expect to go through airport-like security and should bring as few personal items as possible.

Participants will not allowed to bring bags, sharp objects, umbrellas, liquids, or signs inside.

The Vice President Biden will make a two-day swing through Ohio which will include stops in Zanesville, Athens and Portsmouth.

According to the campaign information, “The Vice President will discuss the choice in this election between two fundamentally different visions on how to create an economy built to last. The Vice President will lay out what’s at stake for the middle class in this election – the choice between continuing to move forward to an economy built to last that’s grounded in a strong middle class, or going back to the same ‘top-down’ economic policies of the last decade that crashed our economy and punished the middle class.”

During the event cameras are permitted.

Parking will be available at the school but will be limited.

Participants are asked to enter the high school, using the entrance on Waller Street across from the football field.

On Friday at 6 p.m. Obama For America Ohio’s “Heartland Tour 2012: Moving the Middle Class Forward”, RV tour will make a stop at the Scioto County Democratic Headquarters on Friday, Sept. 7th at 6 p.m. Greg Shultz, Obama For America State Director will en in attendance along with others, according to released information “highlighting the stark contrast between President Obama and Mitt Romney on the issues that matter to Ohio’s rural communities.”

Wow - that won't hamper people trying to get to the churches in that area at all! Who picked that venue for a Sunday? Does VP Biden intend to attend one of the churches? Hope the PD keeps people out of the church's lots. You don't want to mess with the church ladies! LOL
