Warrants served on three in double murder

Frank Lewis

PDT Staff Writer

Greenup County Sheriff Keith Cooper says murder indictment warrants were served on three people after those indictments were returned by the Greenup County grand jury Thursday.

Deputy David Bocook presented warrants to Willie Burns, 24; Chrissie Bertram-Royster, 24, and Sammy Bertram, 23, all of Garrison, Kentucky. All were charged with double murder, first degree robbery, first degree arson, and tampering with physical evidence, in the murders of Jeffrey Clinton Long and Pamela Lee Willis. The two died in a double murder and arson in a trailer on Leatherwood Road in Garrison.

Cooper said the murders have been the subject of an ongoing investigation resulting in a total of five arrests to date.

Ashley N. Craft, 23, of Rock Hill, Garrison, is charged with first degree conspiracy to commit robbery, and as a part of a plea agreement, Mitchell Royster, 24, Chrissie Bertram-Royster’s husband, also of Garrison, will testify against the four. He (Mitchell Royster) was indicted by a grand jury in 2010 on two counts of capital murder and one count of first degree arson.

All three of the subjects served with warrants Thursday are being lodged in the Greenup County Detention Center. Greenup County Circuit Judgte Bob Conley has set their bonds at $1 million cash only.
