PDT Staff Writer

Chloe Horner, 2, of South Webster and Sydney Speas of Wheelersburg won titles at the 2012 National Pure American Girl Pageant recently held in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

“This is a great Christian based pageant system. It’s great because the girls get to show their natural beauty, it’s not a glitz pageant at all, it’s completely natural,” said Megan Horner, mother of Chloe.

This is the first national pageant for Chloe. She’s competed in a number of local pageants.

“We started out doing a preliminary pageant that was held in New Boston in January, there she won the title of Miss Ohio River. She then moved on to the Ohio State pageant held in March in Columbus, there she won the title Miss Ohio Baby. At that point she moved on to the national level,” Horner said.

Horner said some family members made the trip to Pigeon Forge to watch and cheer on Chloe as she competed in the national pageant from July 29th to Aug. 2nd.

Horner won the title of Pure American Girl Baby National Queen. Speas won the title of Junior Miss Pure American Girl.

Seas’ 2012 National Junior Miss Pure American Girl Facebook profile states, “I began my journey by competing in a local preliminary pageant and won the title of Junior Miss South Central. I then went on to compete at the 2012 Ohio State Pageant and became Junior Miss Ohio! I am proud to say that I represented the great Buckeye State at the 2012 National Pageant on July 29-August 2 and won the National Junior Miss division!”

Speas could not be reached for further comment.

Horner said Chloe will be participating in local and regional parades including the upcoming, River Days Parade, Jackson Apple Festival and Octoberfest.

According to www.pureamericangirl.com, “Pure American Girl strives to promote the values of good self-esteem and self-confidence in women and girls of all ages. PAG encourages dreams and gives our ladies the tools and opportunities needed to achieve them. PAG strives on teaching strong professional qualities so ladies can be more effective and efficient workers in the professional world. PAG is founded on Christian beliefs. By using positive words and actions, Pure American Girl transforms lives, advocates Christian lifestyles, and aids individuals in growing a relationship with Christ.”
