A crash has claimed the life of a Pike County woman. The Chillicothe Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says Amy A. Baker, 44, of Piketon, was killed in a two-vehicle wreck around 3:24 p.m. Thursday on Ohio 124 in Pike County.
Troopers said a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier, operated by Miriah C. Daniel,18, of Peebles, Ohio was westbound on Ohio 124 when it traveled left of center striking a 2002 Ford Ranger, operated by Abigail Horner, 22, of Waverly, which was traveling eastbound.
Baker, a passenger in Horner’s vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene by David Kessler from the Pike County Coroner’s Office. Horner was transported to OSU Wexner Medical Center by AirEvac and Daniel was transported to Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia by AirEvac.
Troopers said the Pike County Sheriff’s Department, the Ohio Department of Transportation, Pike County EMS, Portsmouth EMS, the Benton Township Fire Department and Peeble Township Fire Department assisted at the scene of the crash.
Ohio 124 was closed for approximately four hours during the investigation. The crash remains under investigation.
