Rain or shine, Christ’s Community Church will host their 11th annual Single Parents Fair on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, beginning at 9 a.m. for pre-registered parents, and 10:30 a.m. for walk-ins.

The Single Parents Fair is a multi-faceted community effort, which will include a school supply give-away to students ranging from kindergarten through high school grade 12, free oil changes, dental care, legal advice, groceries, clothing, haircuts, and fun activities for kids to enjoy. Participants must be a single parent or guardian of a child, age birth through age 18.

Pastor Rick Clark, an Associate Pastor at Christ’s Community Church, stated that the Single Parent Fairs are made possible not only due to the support received from the Church parishioners, but from other community members as well.

“We are so blessed to receive support from Glockner’s who provides us with the oil to do the oil changes. Dr. Tracy Murray, comes and does the dental work, whatever the people need done. Mark and Vergie Hunter, of the Steven Hunter Foundation come and donate ten thousand pounds of food, of which each parent receives 50-pounds of food,” Clark said.

Currently, there are 155 registered for the fair, and Clark predicts that number will grow to at least 200 or more fair attendees.

“We have been offering these fairs to the community for over 10 years now. It is one thing to prepare for them, but it is another thing to see them actually take place. There is a plethora of single parents out there, and we want to just extend our arms to them, and let them know that Jesus loves them, and we do too,” Clark said.

“We look forward to serving as many people as possible, but the key is to be pre-registered. All single parents who desire to attend the fair should call the church,” Clark said.
