Director, Writer, Producer of Death by China offered a free-showing of his documentary, with a question and answered session immediately following the viewing on Thursday at Portsmouth Cinema Theatre

Best-selling author and filmmaker, Peter Navarro of the newly released documentary film, Death By China, offered a free, public viewing of the film at Portsmouth Cinema Theatre Thursday.
The showing was part of The Death By China Swing State Tour of swing states most affected by the off-shoring of American jobs.
Navarro, who wrote, produced and directed the film Death By China, hosted a free, public viewing of the documentary.
Navarro kicked off his Death By China Swing State Tour on Sept. 7, in Youngstown.
Death By China is narrated by actor, Martin Sheen, and features a host of prominent politicians, corporate leaders, and labor leaders.
“The film, Death By China is a story about how Democrats and Republicans in Washington allowed China into our markets in 2001, and since that time they’ve flooded our markets with illegally subsidized exports,” Navarro said. “We’ve lost over 50,000 factories, six million manufacturing jobs, 25 million of our people can’t find a decent job, and we owe the biggest Totalitarian country in the world, $3 trillion.”
Navarro expounded upon his strategy in getting his message out.
“So what I am doing is having town hall meetings where we show the film first and then we have people talk about the film, talk about their experiences, talk about what China has meant to their lives.”
After the film was shown, Navarro addressed a sparse crowd of 20 people who came out for the viewing.
“Ohio is really a ground zero for this undeclared trade war that China has been waging against us,” Navarro said. “Ohio is characterized by two things, first of all it used to be one of the most important manufacturing states in the country. No. 2, the nature of the manufacturing that was here in Ohio is unique in a sense that much of the manufacturing activity was done by small and medium companies that had been here for 50 to 100 years or more.
“To me it’s critical that the Presidential candidates, on both sides of the aisle, acknowledge to the people of Ohio that No. 1, jobs is the most important issue in the campaign, and No. 2 is that the only way we are going to get our jobs back is to crack down on unfair trade practices,” Navarro said.
Though small in number, most of the members of the audience shared their thoughts, and asked questions in regard to the film, Death By China, with the majority in agreement with Navarro’s stance.
