According to Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini and Portsmouth Police Chief Rob Ware, members of the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force, consisting of detectives from the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, Portsmouth Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, arrested Jamie D. Craft, 29, of 502 Broadway St. in Portsmouth Thursday.

Craft’s husband Carson Craft, 33, was also served a warrant on indictment for similar criminal offenses. Carson Craft has been incarcerated in the Scioto County Jail since October.

The arrested was made after a warrant to arrest on indictment was issued by the Scioto County Common Please Court for charges of Trafficking Heroin.

The warrant for Jamie Craft was issued after cases against her and her husband had been presented to a Scioto County Grand Jury by Task Force detectives and the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office in early December.

Task Force detectives located Jamie Craft at approximately 12:25 p.m. Thursday during a traffic stop of a vehicle in which she was occupying. Jamie Craft was found to be in possession of less than a gram of heroin at the time she was apprehended.

Jamie Craft’s warrant to arrest on indictment consists of charges of first and fifth degree felonies in Trafficking in Heroin, the first degree felony of Possession of Heroin, the first degree felony of Conspiracy to Trafficking in Heroin and the third degree felony of Tampering with Evidence.

The Crafts are being held in the Scioto County Jail without bond and are awaiting arraignment in County Common Pleas Court.

Sheriff Donini and Chief Ware ask that anyone who wishes to leave drug information for the Task Force to contact the Portsmouth Police Department via the drug line, 740-354-3784 or the Sheriff’s Office drug line at 740-351-1094. Information can also be submitted via e-mail at drugs@sciotocountysheriff.com. All information will be kept confidential and anonymous.
