On Saturday night, Ali Shuff of South Webster High School was crowned Miss River Days. Molly Crandall representing Valley High School was crowned first runner-up and Lauren Reiser of West High School was crowned second runner-up.

Shuff is a Senior at South Webster High School and is the daughter of Melody and James Shuff. After high school, Shuff plans on attending the University of Kentucky and major in chemical engineering. Shuff won the title of Junior Miss River Days in 2006.

“It’s been an awesome experience so far. I am a cheerleader, I play softball and I am involved with the musicals at South Webster,” Shuff said.

Crandall is a Senior at Valley High School and is the daughter of Gary and Donna Crandall. After high school, Crandall plans on attending Marshall University and major in early childhood education.

“This experience has been amazing so far. I had a great time at the pageant and afterwards when I was home, it finally hit me, I got really excited and I could not sleep. Putting the crown on just makes me happy,” Crandall said. “I felt like over this next year me Ali and Lauren will get a lot closer. We got close over the summer, but I feel like we will become more like a family over this next year. In the process we will tell other people how great Scioto County is.”

Reiser is a Senior at West High School and is the daughter of Andy Reiser and Tammy Seaman. After high school, Reiser plans on attending Marshall University and major in Physical Therapy.

When asked if the reality of being a title holder has set in yet, Reiser said, “after putting the crown on this morning (Sunday) it really set in that I won a crown. Since being crowned I have received a lot of support from my family and friends.”

Patricia Dingus, River Days Pageant Director said, “All of the contestants went though a lot of community service leading up to the pageant. All of the contestants spent time together since the end of February. With the community service, the fundraising practices, dance practices and various other things it’s a very long process for these girls.”

She said Shuff, Crandall and Reiser will travel around the state throughout the year at various festivals representing River Days. Work will begin for next year’s pageant will begin in the next month or so.
