Reported drug activity at a house where the occupant was on house arrest has resulted in three arrests.
Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said members of the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force about 4:20 p.m. Monday arrested three individuals at the residence of 47-year-old William T. Williams at 3556 ½ Pleasant Ave., Portsmouth, after receiving a tip that drug activity was taking place at the residence and Williams was known to be on house arrest at the time. According to Donini, Task Force detectives and probation officers responded to Williams’ residence, a small camper, and found Williams and six other adults inside.
Detectives and probation officers said they seized from the camper suspected heroin, hypodermic syringes containing suspected heroin, and drug paraphernalia. Williams was arrested for violating probation. Kayla M. Johnson, 26, of 6735 Harding Ave., Sciotoville, was arrested for an outstanding bench warrant that had been issued by the Portsmouth Municipal Court; Keith Chaffins, 30, of 561 Shepherds Fork Road, West Portsmouth, was arrested on suspicion of possession of heroin, a fifth-degree felony. All three suspects were placed in the Scioto County Jail. Chaffins was to be arraigned in Portsmouth Municipal Court at 9 a.m. Tuesday, while Williams and Johnson are awaiting appearances before a Portsmouth Municipal Court Judge. A case against Williams might be forwarded to the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office to be presented to a Scioto County grand jury for the consideration of felony drug possession charges.
