GREENUP, Ky. — An engine’s roar and a child’s smile marked a day of fundraising for a very worthy cause.

Fifteen cars from the Greenup County Cruiser’s Club cruised into downtown Greenup on Saturday for the 2nd Annual Rod Run and Cruise-In for Adam. The funds raised will benefit 11-year-old Emily Clark of Flatwoods, Ky. who is suffering from brain cancer.

The Rod Run departed from the Greenup Dam at 9:3o a.m., then travel to Grayson, Ky., and back to Greenup.

The first cruise event was held last year for Adam Horsch, a 9-year-old who also has cancer.

Malissa Warrick, the current Secretary-Treasurer of the Greenup County Cruisers Car Club said the group was inspired to continue to reach out to kids who are battling with cancer.

The Club hosts the cruise events to raise money for treatments and travel expenses for children who develop cancer. Many of the ill children must travel continually to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, one of the best children’s hospitals in the nation.

When the Greenup County Cruisers discovered that Clark had two types of brain cancer, they wanted to help her as well.

“We decided to keep the event going on an annual basis, so that we could choose a child that is dealing with cancer and help support the family. All of the funds that we raise go to the families to help with the medical expenses,” Warnick said.

The officers of the Greenup County Cruiser’s Club are Steve Warrick who currently serves as President, Joe Sinclair, Vice President, and Malissa Warrick, Secretary-Treasurer.
