A Portsmouth man faces a charge of abduction and several other charges after being arrested by the Portsmouth Police Department. Steven J. Stanley, 21, of 3110 Gallia St., is charged with abduction, domestic violence, two counts of criminal trespassing and two counts of failure to appear - issuance of a warrant, after a woman said he repeatedly beat and kicked her and held her against her will. The incident reportedly occurred at 1802 Kendall Ave., Apt. H.

According to the police report a woman told them Stanley grabbed her by the throat and punched her several times in the face. She said she passed out at one point and woke up to her assailant kicking her in the face. She told police he grabbed her by the hair and dragged her to the stairs and into the house. She said she ran to her car and Stanley followed and grabbed her by the throat and smashed her head against the side of the car.

The victim said she was running toward a convenience store when he followed her, picked her up and went back to where her car was. She said he saw a police car on a routine patrol and held his hand over her mouth so she couldn’t scream. The victim said her assailant pinned her to the ground so that she couldn’t move, then, after police left the area, he punched her in the face multiple times and kicked her in the ribs and chest.

She said she passed out and she believes he carried her back to the apartment. She said after she woke up she ran to her friend’s apartment.

According to the police report Stanley was on Portsmouth Metropolitan Housing Authority property from which he is barred. He was arrested and placed in the Scioto County Jail.
