It’s estimated by the management of the New Boston Walmart that 5,000 people were inside the store for the 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. sales on Thanksgiving night.

At Walmart, sales were offered at 8 p.m., 10 a.m. and 5 a.m. Friday morning. Each sale offering various items.

According to Walmart store manager Bill Mason, the 8 p.m. sale offered mainly toys with the sale at 10 p.m. offering mainly electronics. With the 5 a.m. offering, items in a variety of departments from tools to home appliances to jewelry to clothing.

Shopper Ashley Davis said the experience was crazy but saw it as a blessing that no one was fighting over items. She describes the experience as madness and crazy.

“I have not seen anyone arguing or fighting so, that’s always a blessing. Although I was not able to get everything I wanted, I got some of what I wanted,” Davis said.

She said a Black Friday shopping strategy comes down to playing offense rather than defense.

“There was no defense because people have been very kind. You definitely need to have a good offense, a good plan. You want to make sure you know the layout of the store and where the items are that you want,” Davis said.

Shopper Lorenzo Bentley was impressed with the way the sales were structured this year.

“I think they are doing things a little bit better this year. With the TVs they are giving people cards so they can be assured if they get one or not.”

Bentley agreed with Davis that a good offense is key to Black Friday shopping.

“Definitely offense, you’ve got to run over who you have to run over to get what you need,” Bentley said.

Kasey Thacker one of the many multi-sale shoppers at Walmart, stood in line for an item at 8 p.m. got it, checked out then got back in line for another item she wanted at 10 p.m.

“Everyone has been really nice, there has been no fights and people were helping each other to find out where to go,” Thacker said.

According to the National Retail Federation it’s estimated 147 million people nationally will be shopping this weekend.

The New Boston Police said there was no major altercations reported Thursday night or Friday morning.
