Robert B. Arnett, 80 of West Portsmouth died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012, at Southern Ohio Medical Center. He was born Sept. 4, 1932, in West Portsmouth to the late Boone and Virgie Salyer Arnett. Robert was retired from G.T.E. (General Telephone), He was very proud of the fact that he retired from GTE after nearly 42 years of service. He was the Union President of CWA 4372, a member and former President of the Shawnee Labor Council and former President of Community Action and was an Ohio delegate to the Democratic National Convention. Along with his parents Robert was preceded in death by a son James Arnett and a brother Ralph Arnett.

Robert is survived by his wife Mary Agnes Weber Arnett who he married on Sept. 1, 1952, in Indiana, two daughters; Mary Catherine Mowery of Dublin, Ohio and Teresa Brown of McDermott, two sons; William E. (Brenda) Arnett of Otway and Christopher G. (Jenifer) Arnett of McDermott, a daughter-in-law Jerrie Arnett, a brother Paul (Shirley) Arnett of West Portsmouth, a sister Patricia (Tom) Payne of West Portsmouth and a sister-in-law Georgetta Arnett of McDermott, 12 grandchildren; Cassie N. Aw-yang, Brad L. Mowery, James Robert Arnett Jr., Jefferson “Boone” Arnett, Jason T. Arnett, Teri Snyder, Malisa Walters, Aron Bradley, Stephanie VanDyke, Christopher “Adam” Arnett, Nathan Arnett, George Arnett, 14 great grandchildren; Nicholas P. Aw-yang, Zachary R. Aw-yang, Laiken Arnett, Robbie Arnett, Hunter Arnett, Taylor Arnett, Timothy Snyder, Jonathon Snyder, Elysa Neff, Trey Neff, Kaydence VanDyke, Gracie VanDyke, Kayla McClary and Logan McClary.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at Our Lady of Sorrow Catholic Church with Father David Young officiating. Interment will be at Scioto Burial Park. Friends may call at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, with a prayer service starting at 8 p.m. Friends may also call at the funeral home at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
