A Lucasville woman has been sentenced to four years in prison for endangering her child.

“Jennifer Carver, 25, pleaded to felony-three child endangering — failure to provide protection and support,” Scioto County Prosecutor Mark Kuhn said. “And she received a four-year prison sentence.”

Carver and Derek Hossman, 30, who was Carver’s boyfriend but not related to the child, had originally been charged with six counts of felonious assault, six counts of child endangering and six counts of felony endangering children, after investigators said a child had received multiple injuries over a period of time.

Carver received a stay on the sentence, which means she will not report immediately, but will eventually to go to prison.

“He (Hossman) pled to a misdemeanor child endangering — failure to provide protection and support,” Kuhn said. “His case is passed for either status or pre-sentence investigation.”

At the time of the couple’s arrest in May 2010, Scioto County Sheriff’s Detective Paul Blaine said the child had suffered several broken bones, some were fresh injuries and some were being healed at the time. Blaine said the sheriff’s office learned of the possibility of the child being injured in October 2008.
