A Wheelersburg woman remained in serious condition Tuesday in a Huntington hospital from injuries received in an automobile accident in the 5800 block of Gallia Street in Sciotoville shortly before midnight Saturday.

Devon Hamilton, 18, of 11990 Gallia Pike, was driving a 2002 Ford Mustang east on Gallia Street at 11:57 p.m. Saturday when, according to Portsmouth Police, for some unknown reason she struck a 2008 Peterbuilt tractor-trailer rig parked on the right shoulder of the street.

She continued along the side of the truck and struck the rear tires of the semi tractor. This caused her car to spin across the street and strike a parked 1993 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer.

Hamilton was unable to tell officers anything about the crash. She was taken by Life Ambulance to the parking lot of the former Wal-Mart store in the New Boston Shopping Center. A Med-Flight helicopter picked her up there and transported her to St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington, where authorities said she remained in serious condition late Tuesday morning.

The parked truck belonged to Star Transport Co. of Morton, Ill. The parked S-10 Blazer belonged to Victoria Logan of 5825 Gallia Street, while the Mustang Hamilton was driving belonged to Tammy L. Hamilton of the same address listed for Devon Hamilton.

The relationship between the two Hamiltons was not immediately known.
