Vera Marcell Lawson Pyle, 95, of Wheelersburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010, at Southern Ohio Medical Center.

Vera was born Aug. 11, 1914, in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late William Francis and Laura Armetta Rambo Lawson. She was formerly employed at Colonial Florist and was of the Baptist Faith.

She was married Aug. 28, 1933, in Portsmouth, to Carl N. Pyle, who preceded her in death March 10, 1965.

She is survived by three sons, Earl L. Pyle, of Louisville, Russell F. Pyle and wife Carol of Scioto Furnace, and Gregg N. Pyle and wife Delphine of Amanda, Ohio; one daughter, Marcella F. Boyer and husband Raymond of Wheelersburg; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Nickell; her brothers, Denver, Morris and Walter Lawson; a sister, Alma Layburger, and a daughter-in-law, Carol Pyle.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at the Swick-Bussa-Chamberlin Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, with Dennis Dawes, minister, officiating, with interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and one hour before the service on Saturday.
