Troy Smith, 93
Troy Leon Smith, 93, of Elizabeth Lane, Waverly, Ohio died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio. He was born Aug. 19, 1919, in Elm Grove, Ohio, son of the late Ora Everett Smith and Lina Lola (Shanks) Smith. On Feb. 2, 1940, Troy was united in marriage to Drusilla I. (Satterfield) Smith, who preceded him in death on March 22, 2000.
Surviving is a daughter, Judith C. Scowden and husband Paul of Sunbury, Ohio, five grandchildren, Eric D. Smith and wife Anita, Minda E. Hatt and husband Brent, Paul Jonathan Scowden and wife Jayne, Jeremy William Scowden and wife April, and David A. Mantia and wife Cathy; ten great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, two brothers, Gary Smith and wife Jo Alice of Waverly, and Verlin Smith of Piketon, Ohio, as well as a sister, Neisel Palmer of Groveport, Ohio.
In addition to his parents and wife, a son Ronald Smith and a brother, Richard Smith preceded Troy in death. Troy was a member of Union Hill Community Church at Peebles, Ohio, a retired businessman, farmer and a WWII U. S. Army veteran.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at the Union Hill Community Church, Peebles, Ohio, with Rev. Phil Fulton officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Union Cemetery, Waverly; with a military graveside service conducted by the American Legion Merritt Post 142, Waverly. Friends may call at the BOYER FUNERAL HOME from 4 - 8 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
