Want to know what to watch this week?

You may have a day or two off of work or some time between holiday gatherings to tune in to a college or pro game this week. Or maybe you want to see some high school basketball and wonder where all the action will be.

The following list is a composite schedule of local, regional and national games of interest that caught my eye for the upcoming week. Hope you find some use of this quick reference during your hectic week of holiday hoopla.

MONDAY - Dec. 21

Local - Pike County Holiday Tournament, High School basketball, 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.at Western.

  • Local boys basketball teams square off at Western High School in annual tournament.

Regional - Kentucky vs. Drexel, Men's basketball, 7 p.m. ESPNU

  • The No. 3 Wildcats can become the first program in NCAA history to reach 2,000 wins.
  • Drexel (6-5), of the Colonial Athletic Conference, shouldn't give UK any problems as four Wildcats are averaging double figures. Led by freshman John Wall, 18 points per game.
  • UK, with a win, will have beaten out North Carolina (1,992) and Kansas (1,980) to the untouched milestone.

Regional - Cavaliers @ Suns, 9 p.m. FSOhio

  • Shaq returns to Phoenix for the first time since being traded as Cavs (20-8) head West for the week.
  • The Suns are undefeated at home thus far but lost 107-90 to Cleveland at the Q on Dec. 2 (the only meeting between the teams).
  • Delonte West is coming off his best game of the year of 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists in a 102-95 loss to Dallas on Sunday.

National - MNF; Giants @ Redskins, 8:30 p.m. ESPN

  • This is a must-win situation for New York, who is trailing the Eagles (10-4) Cowboys (9-5) in the NFC East, for a wild card berth.
  • The cannon-arm of Jason Campbell might outclass the suspect pass defense for New York and cause an upset. We'll just have to watch and see what happens.

TUESDAY- Dec. 22

Local - Pike County Holiday Tournament, High School basketball, 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Western.

  • Local boys basketball teams square off at Western High School in annual tournament.

Regional - Ohio State vs. Cleveland State, Men's basketball, 8:30 p.m. BigTen Network

  • OSU (9-2) takes on the tournament team of a year ago (who upset Wake Forest in round one), the Cleveland State Vikings.
  • The Vikings nearly upset (6)West Virginia in a two-point loss on Saturday.
  • The Buckeyes are 2-1, losing only to (22)Butler, since the loss of all-around standout Evan Turner who injuried his back on Dec. 5.
  • Turner could return much earlier than expected but will not be healthy in time for the BigTen opener versus Wisconsin on Dec. 31.

National - Oregon State vs. BYU, MAACO Las Vegas Bowl, 8 p.m. ESPN

  • BYU (10-2) quarterback Max Hall and Oregon State (8-4) running back Jaquizz Rodgers will be the players to watch.
  • The BYU Cougars are no strangers to Sin City as this is their fifth straight year to play this bowl game.
  • In this match up of Top-25 teams, most predictions favor the Beavers because of their speedy skill players.

WEDNESDAY - Dec. 23

Regional - West Virginia vs. Missouri, Men's basketball, 7:30 p.m. ESPN2

  • The No. 6 Mountaineers are a perfect 8-0 and will take on a tough No. 20 Ole Miss team (10-1) in what should be an up-tempo shootout.

FRIDAY - Dec. 25

Regional - Cavs @ Lakers, 5:00 ABC

  • Last Christmas, Mo Williams led the Cavs over the Wizards by going 10-of-13 from the field for 24 points.
  • Kobe Bryant's 27 and Pau Gasol's 20 points put the Lakers over Boston 92-83 a Christmas ago.

National - Chargers @ Titans, 7:30 NFL Network

  • Both teams are coming off three-point wins in Week 15 but have just four days to prepare for this contest.
  • The Chargers held the Bengals in the red zone to just one touchdown in four attempts. However, with the playmaking ability of Vince Young and Chris Johnson, the Titans stand to have more success within the 20.

SATURDAY - Dec. 26

Regional - Ohio vs. Marshall, Little Caesars Pizza Bowl, 1 p.m. ESPN

  • Formerly the Motor City Bowl, two football programs from our region head to Detroit's Ford Field for this newly titled bowl game.
  • The Herd (6-6), under the direction of interim head coach Rick Minter, have an all-time record of 29-17-6 against the Bobcats. However, Ohio (9-4) is the favorite.
  • On Dec. 4, the Bobcats lost the MAC championship to Central Michigan 20-10, at none other than Ford Field.

National - Boston College vs. USC, Emerald Bowl, 8 p.m. ESPN

  • In what has been a disappointing year for the Trojans, USC (8-4) finds itself in an unfamiliar situation - in a non-BCS bowl game.
  • The Eagles, also 8-4, are highlighted by sophomore running back Montel Harris but will be playing without linebacker Mark Herzlich. Last year's ACC defensive player of the year, Herzlich has been battling bone cancer but hopes to return in 2010.

SUNDAY - Dec. 27

Regional - Bengals vs. Chiefs, Browns vs. Raiders, Steelers vs. Ravens, all 1 p.m. CBS channels

  • Cincinnati can clinch the division with a win or a Baltimore loss.
  • Cleveland's Jerome Harrision is coming off a game of 286 rushing yards and three touchdowns (3rd best rushing performance in NFL history). While Josh Cribbs set a new record for career kickoff returns for touchdowns (eight) as he took two returns, of 100 and 103 yards, to the house last Sunday. Cleveland defeated Kansas City 41-34 in Week 15.
  • The Ravens hope to repeat their success from Nov. 29 (Week 12) when they beat Pittsburgh 20-17 in overtime. Steeler back-up QB Dennis Dixon was at the helm, for his first career start, in the loss as Ben Rothlisberger was still recovering from a concussion.
