This event has been created to benefit The Counseling Center’s Prevention and Outreach programming that includes Summer Outreach Camp for at-risk youth and prevention programs based in our schools. This particular event will be scheduled again in October 2011 with some additional activities that may include a dinner the night before and a run across the Grant Bridge. The Counseling Center Inc. will continue to promote prevention and the need for additional prevention services for the youth throughout Scioto County.
In addition to the 300 runners and walkers, there were so many volunteers and families who came out to support the event. It is impossible to manage an event without many community individuals and policemen to ensure the safety of the participants. Notre Dame High School students volunteered as well as students and faculty from the Shawnee State University Masters of Occupational Therapy program. The 2010 Natural High 5K Run/Walk was truly a community event seen through the spirit of participation, volunteerism, and support!
