Delgazieo J. King, 38, of 3986 Blue Glade Rd., in Canal Winchester was arrested over the weekend and placed in the Scioto County Jail on drug charges.

Portsmouth Police officers saw a green Chrysler sitting in the 500 block of Boundary Street with two people inside. The officers ran the tag and believed the vehicle to be stolen. The driver exited the vehicle and sat on the ground where he was handcuffed. A LEADS alert came back that said King frequently used stolen documents and gave false identification.

While the officer was patting King down he saw a red zip-lock baggie with a tan residue that appeared to be heroin. King later told officers it was heroin. During that time King began to choke as if attempting to swallow something. Officers were unable to force his mouth open and later he told them it had been heroin and he had swallowed it.

An emergency squad responded to the scene and found him to be uninjured. He waived his right to treatment. Officers said he also had $350 cash in his possession. He was arrested and the cash and heroin impounded.

King faces charges of possession of drugs - heroin and tampering with evidence.
