A Minford man is in serious condition in the intensive care unit at Grant Medical Center in Columbus after being stabbed in the chest during an altercation Thursday afternoon, and a Portsmouth man is in custody in that stabbing.

Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said deputies responded to a 911 stabbing complaint at the 700 block of Scioto Street in Lucasville around 2:30 p.m.

Donini said Timothy L. Boggs, 26, of Lucasville-Minford Road in Minford had been in a verbal confrontation with Steven W. Lockhart, 44, of Carlyle Avenue, Portsmouth, when the altercation escalated and Lockhart brandished a knife striking Boggs in the chest area.

Boggs was transported to Southern Ohio Medical Center by Valley Township Squad, then transported to Grant Trauma Center by air.

Donini said Lockhart fled the area and was arrested without incident involving a traffic stop on Harding Avenue in Sciotoville by a deputy assigned to Porter Township.

Lockhart is being held in the Scioto County Jail with a bond of $15,000 for one count of felonious assault.

Donini said anyone with information in the case should contact Detective Paul Blaine at (740) 351-1092. All information will be kept confidential.
