Hello readers.

In the past couple weeks as basketball season has gotten underway there have been several asking the same question posed to me via voicemail and email and I feel it needs addressed.

Last basketball season, nearly a full year ago, the Portsmouth Daily Times made a change that resulted in an early press deadline on Monday nights.

What that means is that the entire newspaper must be written, edited, laid out and printed to film by 9 p.m. on Monday nights.

This means that games played on Monday nights cannot appear in Tuesday's edition. If a coach calls in a game from Monday night, we will happily run it in Wednesday's edition.

We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to covering as many games as we can the rest of the season — at least Tuesdays through Saturdays.
