SSU trio named NAIA Scholar Athletes

SSU Sports Information

Ericka Leighty and Ali Thompson were among 308 athletes that were named NAIA Scholar Athletes for softball.

Leighty, a junior from South Point majors in Exercise Science and will begin her Masters in Occupational Therapy in the fall.

Thompson, a junior from Franklin Furnace is a Business Administration major.

To be eligible for the honors one must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status in order qualify.

For the second time this year, Brianna McCauley has been named an NAIA Scholar Athlete.

The senior from Canton earned the honor in the fall in cross country and again was recognized in track and field. McCauley is a Health Care Administration major.

McCauley is among 362 women’s track and field athletes to earn the honor.

To be eligible for the honors they must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status in order qualify for the honor.
