Ruth Lawson Venturino, 88, of Portsmouth, went to be with her Lord Friday, May 7, 2010, in Taylors, S.Ca.

She was born Nov. 22, 1921, in Rexton, Mich., to the late Charles Lawson and Nora Bishop Lawson.

She was a member of the former Manley United Methodist Church, former volunteer for RSVP, and a life member of SOMC Ladies Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Venturino, on Nov. 24, 2000; and one brother, Elwood Lawson.

She is survived by one son, Donald (Marsha) Venturino of Lucasville; one daughter, Diana (Phillip) Hathcox of Taylors, S.C.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Harriet Haney of Grayson, Ky.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2010, at F.C. Daehler Mortuary Company in Portsmouth, with Andy Day officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour before the service at Daehlers.

Memorial donations may be made to the Special Wish Foundation.
