Post 23 bowed out of the 2012 Gene Bennett Classic after dropping all five of its games, the final was a 15-1 loss in five innings to the Springfield Armaloy.

In the finale, Post 23 committed nine errors to run the team’s total to 20 for the tournament. During the Classic, Post 23 managed to score nine runs off 16 hits in 30 innings of baseball.

The fifth inning ultimately put the game away for the Armaloy as they were able to send 13 batters to the plate. During the top of the fifth, there were eight runs, four walks, four errors, three hits and two pitching changes.

Will Howard was 2-for-2 with two singles and a walk to lead Post 23, who’s only run came in the bottom of the first when Alex Hartley’s single scored Alex Shears. Post 23 returns to action Monday with a nine-inning game against Gallipolis Post 21 at Rio Grande.
